a maker city
Tacoma is, and has been, making the world a better place through art, design and manufacturing. In doing so we are creating jobs, products, and friends – all of which are building a stronger local economy.
In May, Stephen Jones of Tacoma Manufacturing, Tim and April Norris of Tim+April, and Amy McBride of the City of Tacoma were invited to join 12 other cities from the U.S. and Canada at the Etsy Maker Summit in Brooklyn, NY to explore how to build Maker Cities that empower micro-entrepreneurs and strengthen local creative economies.
Together, we considered how to strengthen the eco-system for artists, artisans, makers, and micro-manufacturers in our communities to not only continue fostering a vibrant community, but to enable makers to grow and thrive. How do we become more competitive? How do we draw clients from outside the area? What do our makers need in order to advance?
If you are as excited as we are, join the maker family as we meet, mix, and mingle our way to a better, Tacoma Made, world.
First step is to let us know who you are and what you do by filling out our short Tacoma Maker Survey and Subscribe to our mailing list to receive the latest news and updates from “Made in Tacoma”.
